In 2003, I started looking for a breed that I could show in AKC conformation. I wanted one with a fairly low maintenance coat. I wanted a large dog. I wanted a non-aggressive breed. I wanted a rare breed. My research led me to the Spinone Italiano. I found a dog show within a few hours of home where I could see and touch some Spinoni as well as talk to their owners. I made many phone calls. I wrote many emails. And in November of 2003, I brought home a beautiful Spinone girl puppy. She was everything I had been looking for and so much more. She touched my heart and soul and got me deeply involved in this breed. Her name was Julie. Julie was finished in June of 2005.
In 2006, I went to Italy and brought home Royal del Subasio. Royal was finished in August of 2008. He loves water and when they are town, he competes in "Splash Dogs".
In 2007, we had our first litter. We kept Mariah from that litter. She finished her championship in July of 2008. She achieved her Junior Hunt title in April of 2008. She achieved her Grand Championship in June of 2010. The first Spinone to achieve this new title added in 2010.
In 2008, I went to England and brought home Boxlock Florence. Trella was finished in March of 2009. She finished her Grand Championship in 2011.
In 2009, I went to Oregon to meet up with Daina Hodges to bring home Standfast The Outlaw Josey Wales. Jojo finished his championship in June 2010. Jojo finished his Grand Championship in 2011. He now lives in Wisconsin with my sister.
In 2011, we had a litter from Mariah. We kept Melody from that litter.
Currently, I show some of my own dogs in conformation and hunt tests. I am a member of Spinone Club of America. I am a member of Shasta Kennel Club.
Sincerely,
Mary Faeth
Spinfandel Spinoni
We breed occasionally, generally only once a year or every other year. We breed for quality, not quantity. The pups are raised in our home, with tremendous care and effort. Much effort goes into the selection of dogs used in our breeding program. Health, temperament, hunting instinct, conformation, coat, pedigree are just some of the things that go into the decision making process. We are breeding Spinone for conformation, hunting and family companionship.
If you are just interested in finding out about the breed or if you are looking for a Spinone companion, call or email us today. We would be glad to assist you.
